Georgia

FROM THE START TILL NOWADAYS

The Association of Pope John XXIII settlesBaraccopoli in Georgia in 2007 following a meeting between Don Oreste and Mgr Giuseppe Pasotto. The first home was open in Batumi, by the Black Sea.

From the outset, the first two main challenges of our missionaries were the local language and the initial mistrust of Georgians towards Europeans.

However, over the years the situation has undoubtedly improved. Our missionaries have now won locals’ trust and confidence mostly because they live like them. Cooperating has thus become easier with both the population and local authorities.

PEOPLE NOT NUMBERS

In Georgia Sharing among peoples reaches over 400 beneficiaries. 7 of them are supported thanks to “distance adoption”.
