FROM THE START TILL NOWADAYS
In 1994 the Association of Pope John 23rd (APJ23) opened the first Family Home in Chile thanks to the missionary Piergiovanni Alceste who had already founded a home for abandoned children.
In the following years, with the aim of reintegrating them into society, the action has broaden in areas such as welcoming people in need, assistance and protection of the poor and marginalized people or for those with disabilities.
In the eyes of the world Chile is a developed country but the truth is that there are wide pockets of poverty both human and material. Our missionaries live side by side with the most vulnerable.
The above-mentioned activities have been joined by other interventions to support children, particularly street children whose living conditions continue to be a pressing social issue.
The original missionary group has grown and currently operates in the capital City of Santiago, in Valdivia and La Serena.
